Evaluation
Consistency Requires Common Criteria
The evaluation criteria used by the Interoperability Clearinghouse represent both
the implicit and explicit development needs of multiple projects collected and
refined over time. Most criteria were developed from research, interviews, and
past experience. The resulting criteria are representative of the needs of the
development community, and can be selected according to an individual situation's
needs. For example, one organization uses common criteria from the following
categories: - Basic
capability - criteria relating to the code development environment
- Portability
- criteria relating to platform support
- Database
support - criteria relating to data base access
- Middleware
support - criteria relating to distributed processing capabilities
- External
issues - criteria relating to subjective aspects of tool utilizing
